Williams Gourmet Kitchen Durham

Williams' Gourmet Kitchen is a great lunch place if you're looking for something that's quick but still a cut above fast food. I was a little afraid when we pulled into the parking lot at 11:45 am and the lot was jam packed. I got stuff to do and I need to get back to work for meetings and stuff. But they got people through the line fast with a very friendly efficiency. I ordered the Thursday special. Can't remember exactly what it was called but something like the William's Smoky Blue Burger. Added the beer battered fries and soda. Price was a little higher than area fast food, but not by much. It was delicious. Fresh baked bread. Meat cooked to order. . Hot. Juicy, Savory, Crispy bacon. Very good comfort food, even the fries. If you're looking to get out of the office for lunch and you don't want to take all day at a sit down restaurant nor endure the schlock that passes for fast food these days, Williams' Gourmet Kitchen is the place for you.

Chad: Let’s get the obvious out of the way. William’s Gourmet Kitchen looks like a repurposed Wendy’s, but like Durham’s Only Burger, the plain looks belie the wonders therein. I ordered the Black & Blue Burger, a blackened-spiced patty with blue cheese crumbles, pickles and blue cheese dressing.

We love Williams! It is kind of sad that you described it as a “fast food restaurant” – I think that’s a bit unfair and probably a turn off to readers who haven’t been there for themselves. It’s probably one of the nicest restaurants in Durham in the $10 and under price range, if not THE nicest, as far as ambience and cleanliness.

Williams Gourmet Kitchen is not a bad place to drop by for lunch – there are a ton of different options to choose from. I have only been here once and it wasn't a bad experience. Overall, I think the place is okay, I don't really have much to say about WGK since there was nothing that really stood out to me that would make me want to rave about. If you're with a group of people that might want a few different things in terms of salads, soups, sandwiches, wraps, and burgers this would be a good pick.

I came back to William’s Gourmet Kitchen just two days later with another friend and this time I was in the mood for a salad, partly because I was feeling guilty about eating a big hamburger right in the middle of the holiday season when we are tempted with so many treats and goodies. So I ordered the strawberry salad and asked them to hold the blue cheese (not a fan – I know, I’m crazy, right?). I was shocked to see how large the salad was. It was filled with fresh baby greens, including a lot of baby spinach, pecans, red onions and was topped with thin slices of strawberries and drizzled with a raspberry vinaigrette. This salad was divine and again was just what I needed that day.

In my day job as a cookbook author, and in my alter ego as former burgiatry supervillain, I’ve eaten hundreds of burgers. I’ve probably cooked twice that many. To the good folks at William’s Gourmet Kitchen I’ll say, that’s a damn fine burger. I wish I’d made it.

My roast turkey and cranberry sandwich and beer battered french fries were also delicious. This a quality restaurant! Helpful? The burger was alright. I don't care for the fries at all which seem to be beer battered. They're seasoned well and smell amazing, but I just cannot appreciate the taste. I liked the cheese steak, but I wouldn't call anything there gourmet. It's pretty much just your local burger joint.

“There's NO “gourmet” here” Reviewed November 29, 2016 via mobile This is worse than waffle house! Took over 20 minutes to get eggs and pancake. Juice comes in a plastic to go cup already poured. You have to get your own straw, napkins, and flatware. Pancake was rubbery and served with artificial syrup and whipped spread in little one time use containers. Awful! Helpful? Thank JLS J Report

Decided to go to Williams for lunch today with some coworkers. It's been a hectic week so we needed some time away form the office. We got there around 11:38AM which is probably the best time because lines were pretty short when we got here. Some people in our party got to order right away. Food-wise, they have a pretty amazing selection. I recently went vegetarian so I got the Veggie Club Sandwich, no cheese (I found out recently that I was lactose intolerant). I love a sandwich with alfalfa sprouts. I think the only other place that has that is Jimmy Johns. The cucumbers were fresh and crunchy. The bread itself was kind of dry. That was probably my biggest thing against it. It said in their menu that the bread is sun dried tomato basil but I couldn't really tell that just from tasting it. They also added too much mayonnaise. The worst thing is a mouthful of only bread and mayonnaise. We had 6 people so we grabbed a booth and just dragged a circular table to the end of it so it was kind of awkward for some people. Also, they have a unique way of handling group orders. Basically, everyone orders first and then after that do you actually starting paying. Just a heads up since I don't remember doing that in the past.

Williams always good. A nice deli but no deli sandwiches. No pastrami or corn beef, but the roast beef is great. Love the seasonal vegetables that are prepared daily. The daily special for s always vey interest an many times well worth trying. Never been disappointed. Have been going to William's for 7 years now, looking towards the future.
