Spring Break 2017 – Tortuga's Mexican Kitchen shares the parking lot with out hotel & happen to be right across the street from our chairs on the beach so in we went. Very nice, friendly staff. They were a bit slow to get to use, the chips and salsa came before the waters (just coming in from the beach, we were feeling a little hydration-urgency-thing). There is just something amazing about outdoor dining when oceanside. Isn't there? Tortuga's outdoor dining is delightful. Simple, casual. Covered as well as tables w/umbrellas. Inside is very large and there's plenty of room for groups. Full bar. TV's for those of you who insist on watching TV while eating. We had the Grill Tacos and the #2, Taco- enchilada thing. The three of us shared and had more than enough for lunch. The highlight was the Mid-flight Margs! Three perfectly sized little cuties! These frozen margs come in a variety of flavors, you get to choose three. Yummy-Yummerson! Generally, I save the alcohol for dinner but a frozen marg really hit the spot after a long day on the beach. The Mid-flight is perfectly sized for lunch, kind of like a Margherita appetizer! I enjoyed this place and would recommend it with a smile & two thumbs up! Despite taking their time to get to us, the food was great, arrived at our table extremely fast and that initial delay was the ONLY delay. They took good care of us from that point on. Muy Bueno!

The sign out front of Tortuga's says “Best Food in Town” so we decided to accept that challenge. We arrived to find the parking lot full of cars. And full of great cooking aromas, which led us right inside. It was quite busy for a weeknight but we were seated promptly. We have heard they have great margaritas, so we ordered one frozen and one on the rocks. They seemed a bit weak so when we re-ordered we asked for a little extra tequila, which seemed to do the trick. We accompanied those with a small appetizer of fajita quesadillas. The ample dish consisted of two tortillas stuffed with grilled chicken and Monterey Jack cheese, with guacamole, sour cream, and pico de gallo on the side. The chicken was unremarkable and not overly warm, but the quesadilla was good overall. We were feeling in a “chicken” mood. My companion ordered the Cancun Chicken, which was grilled chicken breast topped with sautéed avocado, pico de gallo, and Monterey Jack cheese sauce. Mexican rice and borracho beans came alongside. He found the dish delicious and enjoyed the toppings. I ordered chicken fajita enchiladas topped with chile con queso, all quite tasty. The Mexican rice and refried beans were also very good. Servers were attentive and willing to make substitutions when we asked. The atmosphere was lively, casual and family-friendly. I'm not sure I agree with the sign out front, but it's a good place for a decent Tex-Mex meal at an affordable price.
